Maintenant dans la cinquantaine, elle se rappelle\u00a0de l\u2019incident :<\/p><p>\u00ab\u2009Je m\u2019\u00e9tais querell\u00e9e avec ma m\u00e8re. J\u2019avais besoin de sortir et j\u2019ignorais o\u00f9 aller. Je marchais le long de la route, sans plan.\u2009\u00bb<\/p><p>Heather a grandi dans une petite communaut\u00e9 rurale du sud de l\u2019Ontario, dans les ann\u00e9es\u00a01970 et 1980. Ses parents \u00e9taient aux prises avec de graves troubles de sant\u00e9 mentale persistants et des probl\u00e8mes de d\u00e9pendance. Elle a v\u00e9cu des conflits familiaux et de la maltraitance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section jours.<\/p><p>La deuxi\u00e8me, quelques semaines\u2026<\/p><p>Apr\u00e8s, pendant plusieurs mois.<\/p><p>Elle a connu une telle instabilit\u00e9 pendant trois ans.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c975f4c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c975f4c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Elle explique qu\u2019elle revenait chez ses parents \u00e0 cause des autorit\u00e9s ou \u00ab\u00a0parce que c\u2019\u00e9tait trop dur d\u2019\u00eatre seule.\u2009\u00bb<\/p><p>Prise entre l\u2019arbre et l\u2019\u00e9corce, Heather ajoute qu\u2019elle revenait, par moments, parce qu\u2019elle avait faim et froid, et qu\u2019elle pensait que les choses iraient mieux.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section d\u00e9plac\u00e9e pendant ses ann\u00e9es d\u2019itin\u00e9rance, ayant dormi sur le divan de gens qu\u2019elle connaissait, sous une tente, dans les bois, et m\u00eame dans les rues d\u2019une grande ville voisine.<\/p><p>\u00ab\u2009J\u2019ai d\u00fb faire des choses tr\u00e8s difficiles pour survivre. Ce mois-ci marque non seulement son d\u00e9part \u00e0 la retraite, mais aussi le\u00a0d\u00e9but de la campagne\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraideeo.ca\/sans-abrisme-chez-les-jeunes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Saisir le moment<\/em><\/strong><\/a> pour mettre fin \u00e0 l\u2019itin\u00e9rance chez les jeunes de Centraide.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2009Je termine ma carri\u00e8re et je r\u00e9fl\u00e9chis \u00e0 l\u2019effet positif que j\u2019ai eu. Je vois la communaut\u00e9 s\u2019engager dans la lutte contre l\u2019itin\u00e9rance chez les jeunes comme jamais auparavant. Le cycle se ferme. C\u2019est le bon moment de partager mon histoire et d\u2019encourager la population \u00e0 mettre fin \u00e0 l\u2019itin\u00e9rance chez les jeunes. Une amie tr\u00e8s proche venait de mourir. Elle avait fait une surdose d\u2019alcool et de drogues. La regarder mourir, c\u2019\u00e9tait un moment d\u00e9cisif pour moi. Je ne voulais pas finir comme \u00e7a,\u2009\u00bb dit-elle.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s la mort de son amie, Heather ne savait pas ce qui \u00e9tait plus s\u00fbr\u00a0entre la rue et la maison familiale. Beaucoup avait chang\u00e9 chez elle pendant son absence et elle se sentait capable d\u2019y retourner.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2009Je savais qu\u2019il devait y avoir un meilleur moyen,\u00a0\u00bb explique Heather.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Bien qu\u2019encore difficile, le soutien d\u2019une nouvelle \u00e9cole et d\u2019une nouvelle enseignante a fait toute la diff\u00e9rence. C\u2019\u00e9tait mon filet de s\u00e9curit\u00e9.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Elle se souvient avoir beaucoup souffert. \u00ab\u00a0Je ne me sentais pas vraiment \u00e0 ma place parmi celles et ceux qui, selon moi, \u00e9taient plus intelligents et privil\u00e9gi\u00e9s dans le programme pour surdou\u00e9(e)s de ma nouvelle \u00e9cole, que j\u2019ai jointe le jour de mon 16<sup>e<\/sup>\u00a0anniversaire.\u00a0\u00bb Elle s\u2019est dit\u00a0\u201cNon, je m\u2019en vais!
